Phases and utility timing

A strat can have up to 5 phases that share the 1:55 of a round. On playback, players walk from one phase's positions to the next and utility disappears when its time is up.

Split a strat into phases, set the positions once per phase, and press play to watch the whole round unfold. The phase bar sits under the map.

Dragging the phase strip moves the players through the phases

Add phases

  1. Set up the positions and utility for the first phase.
  2. Click “Add phase” under the map. In the new phase the players stand where the previous phase left them; utility, arrows and text aren't carried over.
  3. Drag the players to where they should be by this phase, then place the utility thrown in it.
  4. Repeat for more phases.

You can have up to 5 phases. They share the 1:55 of a round equally, and the bar shows the time span of each one — the more phases, the shorter each is.

Click a phase on the bar to go back and edit it.

Play it

  • Click the play button at the left of the phase bar, or press Space. Playback starts from the phase you're editing.
  • Press and drag along the bar to jump to any moment.
  • Pick a playback speed on the right: 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x.

Nothing can be edited during playback. Click a phase on the bar, or press Esc, to get back to editing.

What happens on playback

  • Players: over the length of a phase, each player walks from their position in that phase to their position in the next one, following walkable ground around walls.
  • Utility: appears the moment its phase starts and fades out when its time is up — 22 seconds for a smoke, 7 for a molotov, 2 for a flashbang or HE grenade.
  • Arrows, lines and text: shown only in their own phase.

While you edit a phase, the map also shows — dimmed — utility from earlier phases that's still up, and the routes players take to the next phase, so you can line up the timing.

Players across phases

A player is the same person in every phase:

  • A player added in one phase is also there in the phases after it.
  • A player deleted in one phase is removed from the phases after it too; earlier phases aren't affected.
  • Renaming or switching side applies to all phases.

Common cases

“Add phase” can't be clicked The strat already has 5 phases.

A smoke from the previous phase is gone A smoke only lasts 22 seconds. With long phases it fades before the next one starts; drop another one in the new phase if you need it.

Removing a phase Select the phase, then click the delete button at the right of the phase bar. The last remaining phase can't be deleted, and nothing can be deleted during playback. Undo brings a phase back.

The exported image shows one phase only “PNG” exports the phase you're currently editing.
