Series archives are split automatically

When one archive holds the demos of several maps (a BO3, for example), it's split into one demo per map after upload.

When one archive holds the demos of several maps — the .rar of a BO3 from HLTV, for example — just upload it. It's split into one demo per map automatically.

What you get

  • Each map is its own row in the demo library, titled after the demo file inside the archive.
  • A small line under the title, such as “Map 1/3 · from” followed by the archive's name, shows they belong to the same series.
  • The maps are sorted by file name, which is usually the order they were played in, and they're processed in that order.
  • Each demo can be opened, edited and deleted on its own. If one fails, the others aren't affected.
  • “Keep the buy time at the start of each round”, if you ticked it when uploading, applies to every map.

The split happens when processing of the archive starts. While it's still queued you'll see a single row — that's expected.

Source and match date

The “Source” of each demo is recognised from the demo itself and from file names. When it can't be recognised it says “Unknown”.

The match date is taken from a date written in the file name, or failing that from the time the archive records for that demo file. If it's wrong, change “Match date” under “Edit details”.

Limits

  • Only .zip and .rar can hold several demos; a .dem.bz2 or .dem.gz holds one.
  • An archive can hold at most 10 demos. With more, nothing in it is processed — split it into several archives.
  • The archive itself can be up to 1 GB, and each demo in it up to 4 GB once unpacked.
  • Files in the archive that aren't .dem are ignored.

Common cases

How it counts on the Free plan Every map that comes out of the archive counts as one demo. The Free plan allows … demos a month.

When the original file is removed Demos from the same archive expire on the same day and are cleaned up together. See Retention and storage.

One of the maps says “Failed” Only that map is affected; the reason is shown next to it. See When processing fails.

Uploading a series archive in “Repair demo” It's split the same way, and each map is handled separately.
