Demo health check and repair
Every demo is checked and repaired automatically while it's processed. You can also export a repaired .dem that plays properly in the game.
Every demo gets a health check while it's processed: what can be fixed automatically is fixed, and anything uncertain is listed for you to review. You can also export a repaired .dem to play in CS2.
Read the result
The “Repair” column in the demo library shows the outcome:

| No repair needed | No issues found. |
| N fixed | Every issue found was handled automatically. Nothing to do. |
| N to review | Some things were handled by inference. Worth a look. |
| Repaired file available | The replay is fine, but the original file would misbehave in the game. You can export a repaired one. |
| Unsupported | The demo can't be processed — a player-recorded POV demo, for example. |
Click the badge, or “Health check & repair” in the row's menu, to open the report. It shows the match format, the number of rounds, the pistol rounds, and the “Issues found” list, where each entry says whether it was handled automatically or needs review.
Repair options
Only admins and analysts can change these.
- “How should rounds start?” “Classic” starts each round with the buy time; “Without freeze time” starts the moment the round goes live. Click “Save options” and it applies to the viewer and to exported files straight away.
- “First live round” Enter 2 if the knife round was counted as round 1, then click “Save and reprocess”. The rounds before it are dropped.
Export a repaired .dem
- At the bottom of the report, under “Repaired .dem for in-game playback”, click “Generate repaired .dem”.
- When it's ready, click “Download repaired file”.
- Put the file in CS2's
game/csgo/folder and typeplaydemofollowed by the file name in the game console.
The repaired file is kept for 24 hours; after that you can generate it again. Guests can't generate one.
The “Repair demo” tool
“Repair demo” under “Tools” in the sidebar does all of this in one go: choose how rounds should start, drop in a demo, and download the repaired file when it's done. The demo is added to the demo library as well. You can also pick a demo that's already in your library.
Common cases
It says the original file was removed The raw file is past its retention, so the demo can't be reprocessed or exported any more. The replay isn't affected. See Retention and storage.
It says “Generated, but the check failed” You can download the file, but it may not play properly in the game. If it doesn't, tell us through Contact us.
The repaired file still isn't right in the game Results depend on the game version, and not every demo can be repaired.
