Slow or interrupted uploads

A slow or interrupted upload doesn't have to start over: what's already uploaded is kept, and choosing the same file again continues from there.

Make uploads faster

• Upload the compressed file, don't unpack it　Upload the .dem.bz2, .dem.gz, .zip or .rar you got from the platform or HLTV as it is. It's smaller than the unpacked .dem, so it uploads faster. If all you have is an uncompressed .dem, you can zip it first.
• Don't close or reload the tab　You can move to other pages while uploading — the header shows the progress — but closing or reloading the tab stops the upload.
• Files go up one at a time　Files further down the list say “Waiting”. They aren't stuck.

After an interruption

• A short network hiccup　It's retried automatically. Nothing to do.
• The file says “Failed”　Click “Retry” on its right; it continues from what was already sent.
• You closed the tab, or the computer went to sleep　Open the demo library again, click “Upload demo”, and choose the same file again under “Unfinished uploads”. When the line under the progress bar says “resumed”, it worked.

Unfinished uploads are kept for 3 days. Details are in Uploading, resuming and archives.

Common cases

It starts from zero every time　Resuming needs the same file — not renamed, not downloaded again or modified — and the same person uploading it.

“Rejected” right after choosing the file　The reason is shown under the file: unsupported format, empty file, a CS:GO demo, or an incomplete download. Download it again and retry, and don't rename the extension.

It says the file is too large　A single file can be up to 1 GB.

It says the team is out of storage　Unfinished uploads hold space too. See Retention and storage.

Uploaded, but it stays on “Queued”　The upload succeeded and the demo is waiting to be processed. See How long processing takes.
