Using Insights
How to read the four Insights pages — death analysis, timing, clutches & trades, targeted analysis: filters, the map, the side rails, expanding a section and jumping to the replay.
Insights puts the facts from many demos together to answer “where do we die, how fast do we play, how do clutches and trades go, what are that player's habits”. It sits in the sidebar under “Analysis” and has four pages:
- Death analysis: every death with its position, time and state.
- Timing analysis: when you leave spawn, throw the first grenade, make first contact and plant, and when your first player reaches each area.
- Clutches & trades: each player's 1vN record and whether deaths get traded by a teammate.
- Targeted analysis: pick one opposing player and see where they get kills, where they die and where they start the round.
Insights is part of …. The data is ready a few minutes after a demo has been processed.
Filters
The four pages share one filter bar; switching pages keeps the filters:
| Filter | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Us / Opponents | The subject. With “Opponents” every number is about the other team |
| Map | One map at a time; the default is the map you have played most |
| Date range | Narrow by match date (upload date when the demo has none) |
| Side | Only the rounds the subject played on CT or on T |
| Buy | Only pistol, full-buy, force or eco rounds |
| Player | Only one of the subject's players (not on the targeted page, which picks an opposing player instead) |
The right end of the filter bar states the page's definitions, such as “traded = the killer dies within 5 s”.
Layout
Each page is one frame:
- Key figures on top: the 6–8 numbers that matter most. In the small bar, blue is you and the yellow mark is the opponents' level under the same filters; a red number deserves attention.
- The map in the middle, the only large chart. Switch the view at the top left (dots / areas / heat, for example); “Export PNG” at the top right saves the current map. Two-level maps (Nuke, Vertigo) get an upper / lower switch.
- Side rails: breakdowns by area, player, weapon and buy. Hover a row with an area and the map outlines it.
- Bottom: the distribution over round time, or a detail table.
The expand icon next to a section title opens a centred window: the enlarged chart plus the full data table, with PNG and CSV export at the top right.
Tables that list rounds (round list, clutch list, rounds with their opening kill) open the round in the 2D replay when you click a row.
Colours
Every bar and dot uses two colours only: CT blue and T yellow. Rows with a side use the side's colour; rows without one use blue. Within one bar the solid part is the main share (untraded, say) and the tinted part the secondary one (traded). Red is reserved for numbers that need attention.
Common situations
Some demos are not counted Insights needs to know which side is yours: the “our team” mark on the demo first, otherwise the roster with more Steam-linked members. Demos with neither are skipped; mark them in the demo library.
Data is still being calculated The demo has just been processed; Insights needs a few more minutes.
Few dots on the map Widen the date range or set “Buy” and “Side” back to all; a map needs a few demos before patterns show.
